The sad plight of Pastor Jayachandra Babu We write this to introduce to you our Pastor Jayachandra Babu working for the Lord in a remote village in the southernmost state of KERALA in S.INDIA. He was born-again very early in life and as the Lord had filled him with the burden of Pastoring a Church he joined the Assemblies of God Bible College in PUNALUR. After graduating successfully from the Bible College he was assigned the task of a Pastor in a small village in Neyyattinkara which is in the District of TRIVANDRUM. He was a very active Pastor and very enthusiastic for the Lord. He used to make frequent home visits, conduct outreaches, organise several prayer groups, and undertake Children’s groups as well in the Church. As a result of this ongoing process God gave the increase and the Church grew by leaps and bounds. He was able to raise up a building for the Church within a very short period of time. Meanwhile he was married and his wife Sis. Christal Joy bore him two wonderful children – both boys: Joshva and Joel. It was when all four were actively involved in working together for the Lord, that tragedy struck the happy family. On 8th of August 2009 our dear Pastor suffered a paralytic stroke which left him disabled in both his right limbs – the once active Pastor who visited believers’ homes on his motor cycle could hardly stand on his own feet and was totally bed ridden and dependent on others for meeting his needs. Then started the family’s lengthy ordeal – meeting the needs of his treatment on the one hand, meeting the needs of the family on the other and the most difficult task was to hold the Church together, which slowly began to show signs of disintegration. Slowly but steadily they were able to manage the recovery process but at the cost of some ancestral properties which came to their help – and they were also able to hold the church together in spite of the many problems. Presently however our pastor has not fully recovered and it is with the help of his children – Joshva aged 13 years and Joel aged 10 that he is able to move about to meet his own needs. Having lost all that they had in his prolonged treatment the family is now going through a very difficult time faced with the needs of the family and the children’s education and other expenses. The Church too is not able to support this small family in any way as the families here are themselves daily wage earners who find it very difficult to make ends meet.
